Edward Fleming’s depiction of Greece as a mighty man hanging over an appalling cliff by his fingertips and striving to accomplish a painful ascend towards the top has concluded and it ascended itself, acquiring its vertical position. The sculpture is a huge one -more than 3.70 meters in height- and is done in Kavala Marble. It took the American sculptor more than 2 months of hard work to finish, and surely it was worth it. The artwork depicts Greece in its endeavor this year to rise beyond in extremely harsh circumstances and in very painfull ways. However, it contents the element of hope and calculation the man /Greece will accomplish the ascend, and this is the reason the man seems so might in muscle and in spirit that he ascends bare, onto such a harsh surface, as Edward Fleming told us. The sculpture delivers the confidence of the artist that Greece will prevail.
