Dimensions: 42 cm. (height) x 30 cm. (width). His works have been auctioned at foreign auction houses (Sotheby’s) as well as domestic ones with starting prices of more than 10.000 €! Konstantinos Parthenis is one of the three fathers of Modern Greek art. He studied painting in Rome and A the Academy of Arts in Vienna from 1897 to 1903. Afterwards he settled for four years in Athens, traveling in Greece, painting religious themes for the decoration of churches such as St. Nicholas in Poros, and in 1907 he went to Cairo, then to Paris, in Corfu and eventually returned to Athens in 1917.
He was one of the most important members of the “Art” group. His works were exhibited at a major exhibition in Zappeion in 1920. His style was expanded from a lyrical impressionism to a particular personal expressionist perception, characterized by geometric harmonic elements and color simplicity. From 1929 to 1947 he taught at the Athens School of Fine Arts and influenced many young painters. His contribution to Modern Greek painting has been significant in terms of moving away from academic tradition and turning to liberal artistic movements.
