Paraskevas Magiras

Paraskevas Magiras born in 1965 in Kalandra in Chalkidiki where he lives and works. He graduated from a Technological Educational Institution, but in parallel he continusly served art, his first sculptures made of limestone in 1982. His influence come from ancient Greek sculpture as well as by his surroundings where he resides. He realized in his younger age the special way of expression and communication manifested through art and especially sculpture. In 1984 he attended drawing lessons, for a short time, next to the Dutch artist Hans van Beeck. In 1988 he met the greek sculptor George Sotiriou, who provided him with valuable advice and influenced his manner. In 2000 he became a member the Visual Artist Association of Northern Greece (SKETVE) in 2010, a member of SKP and in 2003 a member of ETTE. He has participate in both personal and group exhibitions. His sculptures are mostly made by limestone and marble. Many of them belong to collectors both in Greece and abroad. He has published six books about Kalandra’s peninsula and its story from the Stone Age until today. He maintains an atelier and a permanent exhibition with sculptures in Kalandra in Chalkidiki.
