Sherry Tipton
The relationship of Sherry Tipton with art started from music and passed several stages before forming her personality as a sculptor. Originally a musician playing bassoon, Sherry spent five years studying art on trips around the world -staying an entire year in Toulouse, France. Her first exhibition was paintings: pastels, charcoal, graphite, were used to create the portraits. She studied sculpting in various workshops and pursued a practice in many occasions, while working as a professional musician in orchestras and taught piano. Since 2007 she left teaching music to devote more time to sculpture, which thereafter became her main occupation. She has exhibited in galleries and projects located in various parts of the world as a result of frequent participation in international symposia.
She joined the Initiative as a result of our international call for entries. She was positive from the beginning and ver enthusiastic about working in Greece, embracing the very essence of the Initiative as a platform to connect sculptors worldwide. Sherry joined the Greek Marble Initiative during its first Symposium, in the summer of 2013. She has exhibited successfully with the Initiative’s exhibitions many times, and she is one of the first full associates of the Greek Marble Initiative and one of our most celebrated partners.
