Η ατμόσφαιρα είναι ποιητική με συμβολικά στοιχεία, όπως το καλάθι με τα φρούτα δεξιά και στην ίδια ευθεία την πανσέληνο. Το αμπέλι είναι πίσω από τον γέροντα και άλλα φρούτα πίσω από την ηλικιωμένη γυναίκα. Η ατμόσφαιρα είναι λυρική και νοσταλγική με στοιχεία αινιγματικότητας.

Three figurative levels organize the composition. The old couple, the village and the horizon with the moon. The atmosphere is poetic with symbolic elements, such as the fruit basket on the right and the full moon in the same line. The vine is behind the old man and other fruits behind the old woman. The atmosphere is lyrical and nostalgic with elements of mystery.
